Having enjoyed the This Time in History: The Battle of Gettysburg Blooper Reel, the “main course” now hurls our way with the This Time in History: The Battle of Gettysburg Extended Blooper Reel—the inaugural, debut exclusive, solely for the home of Wes Brooks Productions.

This version is a little over twice as long as its counterpart. Back in January, after a first pass of slicing and compiling the bits together for the blooper reel, I thought it was too long. With repeated pass after pass through the thing, I cut a lot out, aiming for a five minute runtime. I reached a point, though, when I couldn’t cut out any more.
I loosened my time-pinching militancy and made ten minutes the brick wall. Once I hit “The End”, an entertaining blooper reel that displayed the main moments, flubs, jokes, and overall essence of the afternoon, made its mark under a single-digit duration, quite nicely.

The idea of having an extended cut to compliment the main version and resurface what I’d cut out, came into mind before I began slicing away at the first pass of the blooper reel. I saved my first pass, and that became the basis for the extended cut.
With a new freedom to indulge, I extended a few shots and injected in a handful of entirely new ones. Mostly added, were moments from the second day the film was shot. The second day only involved Ben and I, and his material as the polite studio executive of TCS.
On the main cut, the second day was sacrificed to make room for the bulk of what was the shoot for This Time in History, involving the three of us. Aside from a shot during the opening title, the second day is completely excluded from the blooper reel. Well, not anymore!
Enjoy the extended cut with its new additions and expansions, and I’ll be back here tomorrow in conclusion of February, 2014.
